At Gibraltar, our people are our greatest strength. We spent some time recently getting to know one of our long-standing, senior employees, Lucica Cucu. With more than a decade of consulting and financial analysis experience in accounting, Lucica has been with the Gibraltar Business Capital team since 2016. As a VP and leader of the finance department she serves as the Corporate Controller responsible for accounting operations, human resources administration and information systems. What’s something you’ve done recently at Gibraltar that makes you proud?
In May 2021, we announced an expanded financing partnership with Bank of America through a new $150MM line of credit. We had well defined treasury management processes in place, and I was able to lead and coordinate the expanded partnership by helping the team adapt to new processes to ensure client delivery was not impacted.
What opportunities do you see for Gibraltar on the horizon?
While conditions have been relaxed for regulated institutions throughout the pandemic, we expect the banking sector to tighten credit requirements resulting in these institutions taking a more aggressive approach with their portfolios. GBC has been able to bring in a lot of new talent over the last two years, which should position us well to capitalize on these new opportunities.
What makes GBC unique from your point of view?
You can find ABL lenders at every corner, but what makes us stand apart is our people. The fact that we continually connect with our clients to establish a personal relationship with them — and encourage them to work side by side along our leadership team — to provide creative solutions makes us unique in this industry.
What do you find most rewarding about working at GBC?
I’m given the independence needed to be successful. The management team really listens to our people’s needs. For instance, we recently had a team member who asked about time off for volunteer work, and we created a policy to support this initiative. We encourage our people to take time off to support causes they value and volunteer their time in the community.
How do you enjoy spending your time outside of work?
I spend most of my time with my family as my two boys keep me active. I enjoy being outdoors with them, exploring trails and going on family trips. We love spending our weekends having playdates with other families.
What are you looking forward to in 2021 and beyond?
The year has been challenging for many people and businesses. I hope 2022 will bring new excitement and energy, and we look forward to seeing more clients and talented people join the GBC team. We are also looking forward to more team outings and activities together in 2022.
